Caprese and Garlic-Butter Bread

A yummy appetizer for a classic Italian meal.

Ingredients:

+ Add All Ingredients to Shopping List
3 tomatoes, sliced+ Add to Shopping List
3 cloves garlic, finely minced+ Add to Shopping List
Salt, to taste+ Add to Shopping List
1 loaf Italian bread+ Add to Shopping List
1/2 cup Balsamic vinegar+ Add to Shopping List
Ground black pepper, to taste+ Add to Shopping List
4 tablespoons butter+ Add to Shopping List
1/3 cup basil leaves, fresh, chopped+ Add to Shopping List
12 oz Mozzarella cheese, sliced+ Add to Shopping List

Directions:

  1. Pour balsamic vinegar into a saucepan. Bring pan to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 400° F.
  3. Combine butter and garlic in a small bowl.
  4. Cut loaf in half and butter well. Place bread on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake for 12 minutes. Cheese should be melted and the edges of the bread are browned.
  6. Remove from oven, top bread with basil and tomatoes, season with pepper and salt. Drizzle balsamic vinegar over the top.
  7. Slice into serving sizes and enjoy.
Course: Side, appetizer
