Bacon, Onion and Brown Sugar Baked Beans

Ingredients:

1 can barbecue baked beans
3 slices bacon, chopped into small pieces
1 red onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon coarse black pepper
1/4 cup brown sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425º F. 
  2. Pour beans into casserole dish and place in oven. Bake for approximately 6 minutes, while you prepare bacon and onion.
  3. Cook bacon over medium-high heat in a small nonstick skillet, 2-3 minutes. Add chopped onion; cook 3 minutes longer until bacon is crisp.
  4. Take beans out of the oven and scatter the bacon and onion mixture around the beans.
  5. Sprinkle the bacon mixture with black pepper and brown sugar. Put beans back in oven and cook 10 minutes more. Serve and enjoy.
